We were asked to complete this wood floor sanding job in Southport. When we arrived to quote for the work, we identified a very dark, detracting wood floor. You could no longer see the beautiful wood grain and it didn’t offer the room any character.
It is often the case that wood finishes are applied on top of older coatings in order to further protect the floor. However, this means that it is effectively being covered up and the issues are never fixed. This floor was a prime example of how, when stripped back, the wood grain starts to offer an insight into the how the floor could look, when finished.
The Wood Floor Transformation:
The first image shows the initial stages of the job. The old, dark wood finish starts to get stripped away. This immediately lifted the feel of the room. A range of floor sanding machinery is needed to complete the work. The machines that effectively sand the boards are not appropriate to use for the edges. The edges need to be carefully sanded, keeping in mind that you want a seamless finish throughout.
This is one of the reasons as to why wood floors are so timeless. You can change the look and appearance of your wooden floors throughout their lifespan. If cared for correctly and looked after appropriately they can offer you a lifetime of service and remain looking great.
A wood stain was then applied to the pine floor. While this was a darker finish, it allowed the grain to be visible and therefore complimented the restored look. Our client was really pleased and felt the restored floor now completed the living space.
