Part of this is the need to spread correct information to existing and future clients about the care of their wood floors. The routine you get into with cleaning your wood floors will hugely impact on their appearance and lifespan.

After installation of your new wood floor it is likely that great care is taken. You build a new cleaning routine, don’t wear shoes and buy products to match your floors requirements. This routine and process can sometimes be forgotten over time. Once your floor has been down for many months on years, it is sometimes the case that these great habits fall by the wayside.

Here’s some advice built around caring for wood floors that we feel may benefit you:

Place mats at each entrance way to your home; this will mean both dirt and moisture are removed from shoes prior to entry.
Build a routine around daily sweeping; this removes dry particles from your wood floor. These particles are left are what work to scratch and dull your wooden floor.
Place soft pads under all of your furniture; this means that when chairs, tables or other items are moved that they do not scratch the floor.
Select a hard-wearing wood finish; this needs to be a discussion with your floor sanding expert. The correct wood finish for your floor is pivotal to the overall success. Take advice and follow the care instructions once done.
Buy products that are tailored for your floor; using generic products can work to deteriorate the wood finish and surface coatings. Products that are too harsh do not lend themselves to wood floors. Again, ask advice from your chosen professional.
