Sometimes you are confronted with a real challenge. Floor sanding work in general is a process. This process can be adapted in relation to the individual job. However, when you are faced with a job that demands a great deal of repairs, it is important to draw from experience. This allows you the opportunity of showcasing your real talent for restoring wood floors.
Parquet Floor Restoration
We were asked to fully restore this wooden parquet floor in Carlisle Magistrates Court. The job itself was generally quite extensive. However, with our vast experience we were able to ensure the smooth running of the project.
Firstly, the entire floor needs to be investigated. Any loose parquet boards need to be re-fixed. This is an exceptionally important element of any parquet restoration project. When this is not completed a couple of things can happen.
If loose boards are left, they can work their way out during the floor sanding process. If this happens while the sanding machinery is passing over them, they can be further damaged. Another problem might occur at a later date if the board stays present during the sanding work. Once the project is completed, after wear and use, loose boards can move and cause ongoing issues. Therefore, a detailed inspection needs to happen in order to identify any problem areas.
Once these were fixed, the sanding process can happen. Areas deeply ingrained with dirt and grime were sanded back. This in itself provides a transformation. The application of a wood finish simply adds a layer of protection for the floor. This is incredibly important for commercial areas.
All areas were stripped back, sanded and finished to a high standard. The spaces were transformed and now offered the professional appearance required for such a building, rather than the distraction that they were when we arrived.
