Refinishing wood floors demands an individual approach. Why? This is because each job is distinctly different. This may be because of the wood finishing products that have been added previously. It could be because of the damage that has been caused through usage. Either way, our approach needs to be tailored to ensure the overall success.
Removing old coatings is imperative to the ability to produce a hard-wearing refinished wood floor. If you are unsuccessful in removing all the old wood finish it will not leave an appropriate surface for new wood finishes.
This is likely to cause an issue for your wood floor in the future. Your new wood finish is likely to lift, peel and deteriorate much faster. This does not provide good value for money as a professional floor sanding project should provide a long-lasting and well-protected floor for many years.
Wood Refinishing Transformation:
This wood restoration project took place in Balshaw’s Church of England High School in Leyland, Lancashire. The first image shows the deteriorated state of the floor previous to our arrival. The old floor coatings were extremely thick. It all needed removing in order to complete the floor sanding work. The second image shows the layers taken up, revealing the beautiful maple wood floor beneath.
Once the entire maple floor was fully sanded, a new hard-wearing wood finish was applied. All of our floor sanding work is done with the use of our dust-free floor sanding system. This offers many advantages, one being the reduction in disruption for our clients. This was really important for this particular floor sanding project as the work had to be completed during school hours.
