Part of our job as commercial floor sanders means that we can take part in a wide range of floor sanding work. Although the sanding process is similar for each job (in terms of the process), there are no two jobs ever the same. Furthermore, this ensures that we can use our knowledge and skills to ensure our clients receive the brilliant results.
Restoring Wooden Floors
We were invited to restore this wooden floor as part of a shop refit in Chorley, Lancashire. Some would believe that the wooden boards were past redemption. It would be easy to say that they needed ripping out and replacing. This should not always be the case. Sanding wooden floors is a real art and when done appropriately can transform an area.
We got to work sanding the boards. The process should be repeated over and over until the desired finish is achieved. All old coatings should be removed to reveal the natural wood beneath. Wooden boards can be re-sanded throughout their lifetime.
However, it is important that each process takes care not to remove too much of the surface. If this happens, it will inevitably reduce the amount of times that your wood floor can be restored.
The boards should be evenly sanded throughout the area you are restoring. A belt sander will be used throughout the open spaces and an edger around the edges. It takes skill and expertise in order to make this appear seamless. To the naked eye, the boards should look like they have been sanded at one time and by one machine.
Once the boards were sanded, they then needed to be re-finished. Selecting a wood finish to best suit your individual floor is important. Invest time in researching the best floor finish and ask for help from your chosen professional.
We are equipped to offer detailed information and work hard to ensure the best finish is chosen. This will leave your newly restored wooden floor looking at its best for as long as possible. Call 0800 852 7188 to request a quotation.
